Suggested Supplies

Basic Paint Supplies Required by SSA for Paint-Ins, Workshops & Seminars

  1. Delta Americana Paints. There are other acrylic paints on the market, but we find this one is best for our needs. There is a large supply at Hobby Lobby. Each month we will give you a list the Americana paint colors that we will be using for next month’s project.
  2. Paint Brushes. We use paint brushes designed specially for acrylic paints. Some of our favorites are Royal, Robert Simmons, Winsor & Newston, Silver, Dynasty, Master’s Touch, and Jo Sonja’s. These can be purchased from any craft store. The most commonly used brushes are liners, rounds, angles, flats, and filberts. Each month a list of brushes needed to complete the next month’s project will be listed and distributed at our monthly meeting.
  3. Palette Paper, Plastic, Wood, Glass. Most of us use disposable palette paper, which can also be purchased at any craft store.
  4. Painting Surfaces. Canvas, wood or paper. Painting surfaces can be purchased in advance during our monthly meetings.
  5. Rag or Paper Towels.
  6. Water Container. Cup, jar, or other small container.
  7. Soap. For brush and other clean up.
  8. Varnish. To preserve finished projects. You’ll probably complete this step at home.
  9. Chalk Pencils and Erasers.
  10. Graphite Paper. Used to transfer patterns.
  11. Extra: Gesso, easel, apron, palette knife, scraping tools (sponge, toothpick).
