Basic Paint Supplies Required by SSA for Paint-Ins, Workshops & Seminars
- Delta Americana Paints. There are other acrylic paints on the market, but we find this one is best for our needs. There is a large supply at Hobby Lobby. Each month we will give you a list the Americana paint colors that we will be using for next month’s project.
- Paint Brushes. We use paint brushes designed specially for acrylic paints. Some of our favorites are Royal, Robert Simmons, Winsor & Newston, Silver, Dynasty, Master’s Touch, and Jo Sonja’s. These can be purchased from any craft store. The most commonly used brushes are liners, rounds, angles, flats, and filberts. Each month a list of brushes needed to complete the next month’s project will be listed and distributed at our monthly meeting.
- Palette Paper, Plastic, Wood, Glass. Most of us use disposable palette paper, which can also be purchased at any craft store.
- Painting Surfaces. Canvas, wood or paper. Painting surfaces can be purchased in advance during our monthly meetings.
- Rag or Paper Towels.
- Water Container. Cup, jar, or other small container.
- Soap. For brush and other clean up.
- Varnish. To preserve finished projects. You’ll probably complete this step at home.
- Chalk Pencils and Erasers.
- Graphite Paper. Used to transfer patterns.
- Extra: Gesso, easel, apron, palette knife, scraping tools (sponge, toothpick).
